Fair Day

Yesterday we went to Fair Day which was the official Opening for the Sydney Mardi Gras. For those who don't know about Mardi Gras, it's basically a party for the next 3 weeks that celebrates difference, equality and being totally fabulous, so we fit in perfect!!!

The fair was in Victoria Park and the place was packed with about 30,000 people (Normally there is about 75,000 people but the rain was bouncing down again and put a few off!!)

There was a massive stage in the middle of the park with loads of acts on all day! For the older people reading this you might remember Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell's 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' well we had a couple of drag queens, Courtney Act (think about it) and Trevor Ashley who did a fantastic take off of Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend! They had the place taken and the whole place was in stitches .

There was a Modelling competition and the winner won $8,000 cash, a contract with a magazine and 10 tanning vouchers, we live in Oz why do they need tanning vouchers. It rained best part of the day and was totally cloudy, yet we still managed to find the only shard of sun, burnt our bloody heads and look like over ripe tomatoes this morning! !

You could dunk a rugby player or an Australian Olympic swimmer, join Alice and the Mad Hatter for a tea party although Alice was 6ft 2" built like a brick Dunny and had a moustache and hairy back!!! (We gave that a miss) or you could just sit, have a stubbie or 3 and watch the world go by!!

All in all a great, but a bit wet day!!!
