Taronga Zoo

On Sunday we went to Taronga Zoo and as you can see Simon fitted in really well with the inmates (just so you know, he's the one in the middle!!)

It was brilliant, you could walk through a pen with Kangaroos and you could have touched them if they weren't being lazy and just lying there with their Sunny's on having a stubby (bottle of beer)!

I have to admit that on seeing a real life kangaroo up close I felt a bit guilty about the Kangaroo Kebabs we had on Christmas Eve!!!!

Anyway, we spent the day trying to locate the Koala bears and after about 3 and a half hours we them, they were by the entrance to the zoo and we had walked past them on the way in....... as you can see they are very cute and cuddly, but all I kept thinking was that they would make a lovely hot water bottle cover!!

Well after we had taken the pics of the Koala's, Kangaroos and Wombats we were faced with the dilemma of entering the Spider, Snake and Reptile house. We walked in and saw the biggest spider you have ever seen in your life and thought "Sod that!!!" It was like a rugby ball with legs!!!! We had had enough of spiders in the gym downstairs, so we gave that a miss!!!

We did go into the chimp house and yes they did let me and Simon back out!!! And the picture below is not one of me and Simon!!! Although the one on the left does look a little like me after a night on the tiles!!!

Anyway, in the chimp house there were loads of kids ooing and ahhing at the baby chimps, well they were until one of the adult chimps came in, turned his back and decided to, how can I say this delicately, I can't, he relieved himself in front of the eager audience of kids....

At this point the kids stopped ooing and ahhing and were saying "Mummy, the monkey is having a pee" followed by "He's having a poo" and then the best one "He's playing with his poo!". At this point we left!!!!!

So, after a great day of seeing the animals in the zoo we left and went to see the animals in the park! Well not really animals just a few very merry Ozzies!! You see, Sydneysiders (locals of Sydney) love an excuse to get outdoors and have a drink and on Sunday they had a wine tasting event from 11am till 7pm....

So we joined some mates at about 5pm for a couple of sociable drinks which was very civilised, that was until we were thrown out of the park at 7:20pm!!!! We were told to leave or get fined.... so we left!!! We came home got showered and changed and then went up to a local bar and carried on socialising, well actually socialising wouldn't be the right word, DRINKING would be more appropriate!!! We left late and we are both feeling a little delicate this morning!!

All in all, a fantastic day!!!
